Overview

1Vision Software, Inc., develops network storage-management software, focusing on the rapidly growing market for servers and Network Attached Storage. Its goal is to enhance the versatility and cost effectiveness of servers, NAS, and associated markets for mass storage by providing the pervasive standard for distributed networked file-system aggregation.

All 1Vision products and services are developed around the company's patented Persistent File System. PFS provides products with the intelligence to enable unparalleled file tracking and file-system aggregation whether files are on local media, network storage, or across the Internet.

Founded in 1996, 1Vision Software is based in Longmont, Colorado. Its products are marketed to OEMs and VARs.

Board of Directors

Huibregtse leads 1Vision into new markets for storage-management software with 16 years of executive management experience.

Bruce Huibregtse
Chief Executive Officer

Bruce joined 1Vision in April 2001, bringing 16 years of executive-management experience from such companies as Hewlett-Packard and Exabyte Corporation. Shortly after joining 1Vision, Bruce was appointed CEO, replacing founder Dave Howard who became Chief Software Architect.

Bruce has spent his entire career in the high-tech arena. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, he began a 23-year career with Hewlett-Packard — 10 of those years as a division manager for mass-storage products.

Prior to joining 1Vision, Bruce was the Vice President for Corporate Marketing at Exabyte Corporation, a provider of data-protection systems. His responsibilities included business strategy, advanced technology planning, business development, marketing communications, channel programs, and industry relations.

His experience in strategy, business development, and operations aptly qualifies him to lead 1Vision in its new market venture: Distributed Networked File-System Aggregation.

Since joining the company, Bruce has led the efforts to focus the company's strategy on file virtualization and to raise the private equity to fund the company. He has successfully represented 1Vision to the venture community securing capital necessary for the company's growth.

History

1Vision Software, Inc. was incorporated in January 1996, with its original focus on specialized software consulting services to major corporations that included Philips Electronics, Cheyenne Software, and Microsoft®.

The original partners have worked together for 16 years, beginning at Colorado Memory Systems, a PC backup solutions provider. They have continued their working relationship through the years at Hewlett-Packard, and 1Vision — all located in Longmont, Colorado. Three of the founding members now comprise Colorado Software Architects, which provides development, sales, and support for all 1Vision products. Over their careers, they have been involved as developers and managers for a wide variety of products:
  • The backup application shipped with Windows 95
  • Tape drivers for Windows NT OS
  • Backup applications for CMS (once owned 60% of the PC backup market)
  • Floppy and tape drivers for Windows 2000
  • File systems for all Microsoft platforms, 95 through XP
  • 1Disk and 1Safe products (300,000+ units shipped under OnStream, Iomega, and Maxtor OEM agreements)
  • 1Disk.com product (management software for online data storage)
  • vNAS (File-system aggregation software for Network Attached Storage)
  • Persistent File System (PFS)
PFS is breakthrough file-system technology that simplifies access to mass-storage devices. A patent for PFS was filed by 1Vision in 1997. Extensions were added in 2000 for the application of PFS to networks and the Internet. The patent was granted in 2001.

From PC utilities to mass-storage file-system aggregation, PFS has been the core of all 1Vision products. The flagship product utilizing PFS was 1Disk, a PC file-tracking utility for removable media (1996). It was followed by 1Safe, which added backup to 1Disk's file-tracking functionality (1997). PFS was adapted to the Internet in 1Disk.com, software to manage online data storage (2001).

1Vision continues to broaden the use of the already versatile PFS, changing the company's focus in mid-2001 to file-system aggregation for distributed data storage. Early 2003 will see the release of vSERV, aggregation software for Windows-based servers and network attached storage (NAS), and vNAS, aggregation software for NAS.

1Vision's long-range plans are for further development of aggregation and file-system management tools for the mass-storage market.
